STATE DEPT. SEEKS TOUGHER VISA SCRUTINY, INCLUDING

According to a document published May 4th 2017, the DOS has proposed tougher questioning for visa applicants that warrant extra scrutiny. President Trump has issued this proposal in an effort of "extreme vetting" that will prevent terrorist attacks.  These questions will also include information regarding social media accounts held by the visa applicants.  However, to Visa applicants that propose a threat with connection to terrorism or security-related visa connections there will be an additional set of questions given.

""Collecting additional information from visa applicants whose circumstances suggest a need for further scrutiny will strengthen our process for vetting these applicants and confirming their identity," a State Department official said."

Immigration lawyers believe that asking in-depth questions regarding 15 years of detailed biographical information, as well as the expectation that applicants remember all their social media handles, is likely to catch applicants who make innocent mistakes or do not remember all the information requested.
